The Galapagos and
Machu Picchu is a combination that is hard to equal. At one location, there is the archaeological beauty of Machu Picchu, and in the Galapagos, all the islands together form a stunning natural reserve. Activities include hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, shore excursions, trips onboard a Zodiac watercraft, and, of course, just plain relaxing and enjoying.
GALAPAGOS
Most tours are approximately 15-18 days and normally include 5-8 days aboard one of the 4 beautiful yachts in Latin Trails’ fleet for travel while in the Galapagos islands – the Galapagos Seaman Journey, Galapagos Odyssey, Galapagos Grand Odyssey, and the Galapagos Voyager. Being able to travel to most of the islands in the Galapagos is the main advantage of the cruise portion of the journey.
Many who visit the Galapagos islands, come to see the famous wildlife – giant sea turtles, dolphins, penguins, sea lions, sea and land iguanas, and the wide variety of birds, such as the Blue-Footed and Red-Footed Booby, Galapagos hawks and owls, albatross, flamingos, Frigate birds, and the Flightless Cormorant.
All islands of the Galapagos were made by volcanic eruptions. The best places to view lava formations are Bartolome, Santiago, and Fernandina is still an active volcano. The Galapagos are quite simply unlike any other place in the world. The islands are rugged, untamed, and beautiful, and the animal world is a daily surprise, like a zoo without fences. It is a place where visitors and nature are in harmony.
MACHU PICCHU
Cuzco is the ancient capital of the Inca empire, one of South America's most beautiful cities. Cobble-stoned streets lead into narrow alleys formed by colonial homes. Nearby ruins are Sacsayhuaman and just a few hours away is the sacred valley of the Incas. Cuzco is the departure point for tours visiting Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas.
Most tourists head to southern Peru to explore Cuzco and especially Machu Picchu. There are various ways to explore the wonder of the Machu Picchu ruins, depending on the visitor’s desired level of activity. One could sign up for an adventurous trek via the Inca Trail, or for a mix of travel by foot, car, and train. For more information visit www.latintrails.com.
