The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain Introduces In-Room Camping One Of Two New Travel Experiences For Children

The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain has introduced two new experiences for its younger guests, with both offerings inspired by the resort’s year-round spirit of adventure. The two offerings lend especially colorful new meaning to the concepts of “roughing it” and “interning.”

First, the 850-acre spa, golf and adventure property has announced In-Room Camping for children visiting with their friends and families. This new children’s amenity will do away with the traditional rollaway bed sometimes brought into guest accommodations shared by families, and it will replace that rollaway or bed-share with an in-room tent large enough to become a private home-away-from-home for younger guests. In-Room Camping will feature Ritz-Carlton tent delivery to the family’s guest room, tent set-up, a s’mores kit for the young tent occupant, an educational book about Arizona’s spectacular high Sonoran Desert, and a keepsake desert tortoise stuffed animal. In-Room Camping not only provides “shelter” for young travelers; it also helps them imagine what the same tent adventure must have been like for the early cowboy settlers who slept outdoors under the desert stars, in the midst of the same lush Saguaro cactus forest which surrounds the resort.

The second new youth offering announced by The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is its Junior Rangers program, created to complement the existing Dove Mountain Rangers program which in one year has become the resort’s most popular activity for five-to-12 year-old guests. The Dove Mountain Rangers program is a comprehensive cultural, educational and adventure offering which allows young travelers to participate in local activity and adventure days, desert fun and games and hands-on sessions surrounding the history, animals and plant life which are part of the Arizona resort. The Dove Mountain Rangers program provides children who have completed a variety of fun tasks with a special diploma, stamped activity passport and personalized ID card. Now, and just in time for the holidays, young graduates of the Dove Mountain Rangers may take things a step further, earning individual promotion to Junior Ranger status for their next stay. The newly-honored Junior Rangers will enjoy privileges and access not available to other resort guests, as they are authorized to “shadow” the actual Dove Mountain Rangers in their daily tasks. This special status for Junior Rangers will also allow them to help care for the resort’s flora and fauna and for its beloved desert tortoises. Junior Rangers will be the property’s own version of “adventure interns,” and future Junior Rangers may be able to earn this designation early enough to enjoy Junior Ranger status for multiple stays before reaching age 12.
