Lake Manhattan, Moab Never Sleeps

Mix-it-up Action from X-Country Skiing to Hummer Safaris Encourages Zest for Adventure in Winter Months

Call Moab, Utah, Nature's counterpart to Manhattan, the city that never sleeps. Moab doesn't sleep either, even when the calendar turns to fall and early winter.

The rafting is good on the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River through October. And stand up paddleboards can still be pulled over the water. Some of the most exhilarating hiking and mountain biking take place now with cooler temperatures that eventually will fan into flurries.

Then come options for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. And any time of year guests can request hot air ballooning and hummer safaris from the Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/).

One suggestion for a long weekend is to pack snowshoes and cross country skis for an outing in the LaSal Mountains at 12,000 ft. where the snow starts in late November and early December. Sledding and snowmobiling can be arranged. Adventurers can actually make a descent into the desert for early winter hiking and biking. For more information please see http://www.discovermoab.com/skiing.htm

The leading purveyor of outdoor recreation in the region, Moab Adventure Center recently accepted its fifth consecutive TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award for its active Day Tours which automatically inducts them into their hallowed "Hall of Fame," an honor they take very seriously. Fall and winter travelers can expect VIP treatment when engaging in these popular "off-season" activities:
