Experience Telluride's Spectacular Fall Foliage

As the summer festival season behind us, Telluride’s fall colors put on a show all their own for visitors to enjoy – and viewing admission is free. Visitors venturing out to Telluride will not be disappointed by the abundance of colors and activities to enjoy the Colorado fall season. The golden aspen trees glitter across the surrounding San Juan mountains well after their peak splendor in early October. Those in the know recommend seeing the fall foliage via a guided 4x4 trip to Tomboy Basin andImogene Pass. The tour heads into Telluride’s high country, where you’ll travel above tree line for spectacular views of the entire valley.

Take in the colorful views on one of the country’s most scenic highways. Telluride is located near, or along, five Colorado Scenic Byways that travel through southwest Colorado. Perhaps the most traveled route, the San Juan Scenic Byway, connects Telluride to Durango, Silverton and Ouray and was designated in 1996 as an “All American Road,” the highest designation given to a byway. Trek at your own pace on one of Telluride’s mountain trails where colors abound and adventure is found. The Telluride Trail and the Ridge Trail are the most recommended paths to hike through the foliage.

Call (888) 355-8743 to book your trip to town. Visitors can enjoy the Fall Stay & Play package including accommodations and a scenic jeep tour starting at $87 per person, per night. Before heading out to the high country call the Fall Foliage Hotline at (800) 354-4595 to plan Colorado color drives, hikes and visits accordingly.
