The Waldorf Astoria has been home to many of Hollywood’s golden couples; Jack and Jackie Kennedy spent their wedding night in a Waldorf Towers suite. Long before director Charles Reisner chose Dartmouth College Winter Carnival as the setting for his tangled romance, the 1939 film "Winter Carnival," Hanover and The Hanover Inn at Dartmouth College have seen many hearts won and lost. As The Hanover Inn welcomes back alumni from the era of the film and at the same time helps recent grads plan their weddings at the Inn, the stories of Dartmouth romance walk hand in hand with the hotel’s history. The wife of a Class of ’42 grad remembered filling a letter to Hanover with the paper "kisses" streamers from a bag of chocolates. Another alum recalled sitting in a rocker on the front porch of the Inn the first time he glimpsed the woman who would be his wife as she crossed Wheelock Street.
