Sands Cotai Central Celebrates Second Anniversary In April


Team Member Celebration And Gedden Coin Giveaways

Sands® Cotai Central marked its second anniversary Friday, April 11, as the integrated resort looks ahead to another successful year of being at the centre of all the adventure, fun and fortune of the Cotai Strip.

"Sands Cotai Central is thrilled to celebrate its second anniversary today," said Gunther Hatt, executive vice president of operations of Sands China Ltd. "The integrated resort has proven itself a successful addition to our Cotai Strip Resorts Macao, with many important achievements and awards within two short years of operation, and we're very proud of that. Sands China employees were invited to share in the many happy moments of the day. Sands China Ltd. executives including Ben Toh, executive vice president, chief financial officer and executive director; Gunther Hatt, executive vice president of Operations; Mark McWhinnie, senior vice president of Development and Shared Services and director of Sands Cotai Central; and Antonio Ramirez, senior vice president of Human Resources, celebrated the day with the company team members with an exciting lucky draw, games and a cake cutting ceremony at the Sands Cotai Central staff dining area. Team members who were born on April 11 were also invited to join the heart-of-house celebration.

The second anniversary celebration also included the handing out of limited-edition commemorative golden coins, distributed to the lucky visitors boarding Sands Cotai Central shuttle buses at Macao border crossings Saturday, April 12.

Featuring Conrad Macao, Cotai Central; Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central; and Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central, Sands Cotai Central's second year of operation has been marked by many successful milestones, including prestigious awards, the launch of the family-friendly DreamWorks Experience at Cotai Strip Resorts, as well as the announcement of a spectacular resident performance, Monkey King - a Mythical Theatre Show to be unveiled at the integrated resort's new theatre in 2015.

One of the most recent and significant honors Sands Cotai Central has received was the official Star Rating bestowed to Conrad Macao, Cotai Central and Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central by the illustrious Forbes Travel Guide 2014. Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central also enjoyed the unique distinction of being the only Holiday Inn in the world on the official Forbes list, receiving a four-star rating. In addition, Conrad Macao, Cotai Central; Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central; and Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central have just been recognized by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macau SAR Government for their environmental sustainability efforts with a Macao Green Hotel Award, assigning the three hotels a gold category designation respectively - the highest possible ranking. The multi-award-winning Conrad Macao, Cotai Central has also been listed in the reputed Hong Kong & Macau Michelin Guide for two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014, amongst many other awards and accolades.

On June 30 last year Sands Cotai Central welcomed the launch of the interactive and immersive DreamWorks Experience at Cotai Strip Resorts, as the result of an alliance between Sands China Ltd. and DreamWorks Animation. This first-of-its-kind attraction was a milestone development for family-friendly entertainment in Macao, and has brought some of the most popular DreamWorks characters such as Shrek, Fiona and Puss In Boots from "Shrek," Po and Tigress from "Kung Fu Panda," Alex the lion and the penguins from "Madagascar," and more to Macao. Featuring a daily character parade, DreamWorks-themed buffet breakfast and a meet and greet in a spectacular themed setting, the experience is an exciting first for Macao, and has been attracting fans of all ages to the integrated resort. 

Sands Cotai Central strives to continuously bring in a diverse mix of entertainment offering for locals and tourists alike to enjoy. The integrated resort will be introducing a new stage production Monkey King - a Mythical Theatre Showdirected by renowned film director Li Qiankuan at its exclusively-built theatre in 2015, in collaboration with Beijing Hua Yan Group. Created based on the Chinese classic literary work "Journey to the West," Monkey King - a Mythical Theatre Show combines modern stage design and performance with multimedia technology to build a novel and magical work of performance art never-before-seen in other Monkey King adaptations.
