New KA Maka Landing And Ulu Cafe' Welcome Attendees With Spectacular Views And Poolside Dining Options

Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa
in Ko Olina, Hawaii, welcomes meeting attendees and incentive winners to explore a stunning new expansion of its popular Waikolohe Valley water play area: Ka Maka Landing.  The new enhancement features a spectacular infinity pool with a realistic grotto, a dynamic fun splash zone for smaller kids, and a new dining location for poolside dining.

Of special significance to meeting professionals is the new Hālāwai Lawn, which provides a 16,000-sq. ft., lushly landscaped environment for networking, entertainment functions and other special events. The new lawn is part of the resort's more than 50,000 sq. ft. of function space, which includes a 14,000-sq. ft. conference center.

The expansion comes just two years after the resort first opened to guests on the island of Oahu. Since that time Aulani has become a sought after meeting and incentive destination that offers more than traditional meeting facilities and lodging. It immerses groups in the authentic stories and cultural history of Hawaii.

"With Aulani, we've introduced an entirely new Disney experience for incentives and meetings," said Anne Hamilton, vice president, Resort Sales and Services, Disney Destinations. "In keeping with the rest of the resort, events on the new Halawai Lawn will immerse attendees in the resort's exotic Hawaiian landscapes and spirit of aloha, paired with the quality and service associated with the Disney Meetings brand."

Waikolohe Valley is the recreational center of the resort. Nestled between Aulani's two towers and flowing from the lobby down to the beachfront, it is home to pools, whirlpool spas and interactive water play areas.

The new pool, splash zone and additional deck space extend the sun and water fun to the very edge of the resort property, with the new pool's "infinity edge" overlooking the adjoining lagoon. A highlight of the family pool is an enchanting grotto that provides a relaxing view of the sunset over the Pacific.  After dark, a magical starscape of glimmering lights appear on the grotto ceiling.

Also available to attendees is a new food service location. Positioned beneath artist Harinani Orme's towering exterior bas relief of Māui, Ulu Cafe is a poolside quick service restaurant that continues the celebration of the beloved trickster figure in casual-yet-elegant style.

Offering quick service breakfast, lunch and dinner, Ulu Cafe will also feature a variety of grab-and-go options as well as hot entrees, daily sandwiches and soups, and specialty coffee and soft drinks.

"This expansion literally builds on the initial success of Aulani," said Hamilton. "Our Disney Imagineers integrated Hawaiian culture, art and stories into the new pool area and dining options to create more fun and inspiring things for attendees to experience. It's another reason why Aulani is like no other meeting or incentive destination in Hawaii."
