Planners: Top Spa Facts To Know For Clients

Willow Stream Spas Make Meeting Planning a Breeze

Outside of the meetings and conferences, the spa can be the most rewarding schedule on the agenda. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts worldwide spa brand, Willow Stream Spas, offer a few spa tips for planners to ensure ease and creativity for incorporating spas on the agenda.

Standing Out in the Crowd is Easy

Offer attendees’ treatments they can’t get at home and your meeting will be remembered. Use a spa director, who can recommend special and unique treatments on the menu, as a guide. For example, the Honey in the Heart treatment at the Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Mayakoba in the Riviera Maya is a Mayan-inspired treatment given in the privacy of the treetop Fuego Suite and includes a honey body mask applied to feed and hydrate the skin, then removed with a rainforest rinse under the Vichy shower. The Rose Renewal treatment at Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Banff Springs will indulge guests with the unique dry-brush exfoliation that stimulates skin and improves circulation, followed by a herbal bath infused with chamomile, finished with a soothing massage and wrap with rose-geranium and rose-flower oil, cultivated in the interior of British Columbia. “Massages tend to be the favored service with groups, but we are finding more and more that meeting planners are requesting unique experiences and locally inspired treatments to be remembered,” says Pam Ouellet, spa director at the Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Banff Springs. “We’re fortunate that Willow Stream Spas specialize in these services and that we can offer a spa experience that’s authentic.”

All Work and No Play Makes John….Unfocused

While demonstrating ROI and covering all topics in the PowerPoint are important, studies show when colleagues take short breaks and stretch, they do more accurate work and as a result are more productive. Add stretching, fitness and wellness into the program to give attendees renewed brainpower and refocused energy. Include short “energy breaks” as a mid-meeting break for groups with gentle stretching and breathing exercises to help focus the mind and take a break from the all-day sitting. Or offer fun fitness options that groups can do in the mornings before a full day of meetings. Find inspiration from the location, such as outdoor yoga on the beach in Mayakoba or a bike ride along the Stanley Park seawall in Vancouver, which provides fresh air and exercise as well as team bonding. “Utilizing fitness offerings in addition to the spa enhance an attendees experience and brings everything full-circle. When you’re able to work the mind and body, you can’t help but feel rejuvenated and refreshed,” says Roselia Flandes, Spa Director at the Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Mayakoba.

There is always time for Spa

Including a spa element in the program doesn’t have to mean hijacking the agenda. There are a number of services that are compact, time-wise, and spas will often develop a program that fits within the client’s schedule. Working with spa directors to incorporate spa into tight schedules, customization and flexibility are key. Add 10-minute chair massages outside of meeting rooms, short hand and foot massages to relieve tired colleagues, mini facials or even early bird hours for the fitness center and spa facilities. “We’re here to craft the perfect spa offering for each group,” says Brennan Evans, spa director at the Willow Stream at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. “We work with planners to get around time constraints and tight schedules, customizing mini treatments menus and more, ensuring spa makes it onto the agenda.”
