If you are interested in conducting a meeting in Florida in 2011 or 2012, you should consider taking advantage of the “Recession-Proof Meeting Package” that is being offered by The Renaissance Resort and Convention Center at World Golf Village in Northeast Florida. Together with the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the 301-room St. Augustine, Florida resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.

Available for new meetings booked and held at the resort by December 31, 2012, the “Recession-Proof Meeting Package” provides very enticing incentives for new group bookings. This includes: a 3% rebate on room revenue back to the group Master Account; complimentary meeting room rental; a complimentary guest room for every 35 paid; up to 10 suite upgrades (based on availability); 25% allowable slippage on contracted room block; 10 complimentary tickets to the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame; double Marriott Reward points; and group golf (16+ players) at the net wholesale rate. The offer is based on availability, and is not valid on existing bookings or with any other offers. The offer requires 20 or more rooms per night on a minimum two-night stay. Blackout dates may apply. For more information, call the resort’s Group Sales Department at (888) 740-7020 or (904) 940-8635, or visit www.WorldGolfRenaissance.com/.

In addition, the resort is now providing complimentary transportation to and from Jacksonville International Airport to new group business booked in 2011 and beyond, with a minimum of 50 rooms per night for two nights, and two catered meals per day.

To make it even more enticing, the resort is also now providing to groups and guests complimentary transportation to and from historic St. Augustine. This new service enables guests and groups to easily visit such sites in St. Augustine – which was founded in 1565 – as the historic Castillo de San Marcos fortress, The Fountain of Youth, and the popular shopping on the charming, brick-paved St. George Street. Additional options in downtown St. Augustine include the Old Town Trolley Tour, The Old Jail, The St. Augustine History Museum, Carriage Rides, the Lightner Museum, and a scenic cruise.

“We created this package to provide a very affordable way for groups to meet,” said Scott Selvaggi, the resort’s director of sales & marketing. “Combine the ‘Recession-Proof Meeting Package’ with the complimentary transportation that we are now providing to downtown St. Augustine, and for larger groups to and from Jacksonville Airport, and it is a great offer.” The resort, which completed a comprehensive $10 million property-wide renovation in 2008, is a consistent recipient of many of the meetings industry’s highest honors.

Located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village right next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort features 301 completely remodeled guest rooms and suites, a dramatically-renovated lobby, newly-remodeled guest room corridors, an expanded fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, enhanced meeting space, and a popular restaurant and bar called 500 South.

Guest rooms and suites feature new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, lighting, 37” flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the Marriott JackPack, which provides complete connectivity to the guests for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players. The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings, crisp white linens, with a color scheme of warm neutral gold. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar and refrigerator, an in-room safe, and in-room coffee.

The resort also boasts a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with lush foliage and a colorful 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies. Recreational offerings at the resort include two championship golf courses, the popular Slammer & Squire (just steps from The Renaissance Resort), and the renowned King & Bear (co-designed by Arnold “The King” Palmer and Jack “The Bear” Nicklaus). Guests also have access to four additional golf courses within 15 minutes of the resort, for a total of 108 holes of golf. Additional offerings at the resort include a sauna, pool, hot tub, and full-service concierge.

Guests also are an easy walk to The World Golf Hall of Fame’s 18-hole putting course, a 132-yard Island Challenge Hole, an IMAX® 3D Theater, and the Walk of Champions. In addition, guests can take golf lessons at the renowned PGA TOUR Golf Academy. In addition to the on-site offerings, the resort is conveniently located just minutes from pristine Atlantic beaches, to fun eco-tours and chartered fishing trips, and to exceptional shopping at two large outlet malls.
