AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE TOURISM MAKES DOLLAR$ AND $ENSE
|
"As the U.S.A. prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary
in 2026, recent reports confirm the most pronounced interest in African-American
life and heritage
since 1977, when Alex Haley's classic "Roots," and the T.V. mini series it generated, created a wave of interest in African-American history and culture.
We all know the role data plays in dispelling myths and justifying marketing budgets. Finally, we have a report to document that black culture and heritage attractions are desired by 36% of the U.S. traveling population, including travelers of all races and ethnic backgrounds," explains Gloria Herbert, Associate Publisher/Editor,
Black Meetings & Tourism.
Our research has spawned the creation of an entirely new project by Black Meetings & Tourism, Mandala Research, and others to launch
Black America 250, a national website and media program to highlight destinations, attractions, and stories of African American heritage and culture. And it is being launched to honor America's 250th Anniversary. If you want to learn how your attraction, destination, or event can be part of this one-of-a-kind endeavor, contact me by clicking
