AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE TOURISM MAKES DOLLAR$ AND $ENSE

 

"As the U.S.A. prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary   in 2026, recent reports confirm the most pronounced interest in African-American  life and heritage  since 1977, when   Alex Haley's classic "Roots," and the T.V. mini series it generated, created a wave of interest in African-American history and culture.

We all know the role data plays in dispelling myths and justifying marketing budgets. Finally, we have a report to document that black culture and heritage attractions are desired by 36% of the U.S. traveling population, including travelers of all races and ethnic backgrounds," explains Gloria Herbert, Associate Publisher/Editor, Black Meetings & Tourism.

Our research has spawned the creation of an entirely new project by Black Meetings & Tourism, Mandala Research, and others to launch Black America 250, a national website and media program to highlight destinations, attractions, and stories of African American heritage and culture.
