THE ESSENTIAL GREEN BOOK: THEN AND NOW

On February 23, 2022, as a part of their long running Executive in Residence series, Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management showcased the experiences and achievements of Travel Industry media Icons, Solomon and Gloria Herbert, founders of Black Meetings & Tourism, the New Green Book Online Travel Guide and the New Green Book Freedom of Travel Institute. The always well attended Executive in Residence series welcomes accomplished and veteran business executives to Temple University, for personalized discussions on topics relevant to the tourism, hospitality, sport, and recreation management industries.

Because of Covid precautions, this year's gathering will take the form of a "fireside chat" moderated by author, speaker, and actress, Daralyse Lyons and Zachary James, Business Development strategist and CEO of Rebel Hill Consulting. Presented as a hybrid event, individuals following "Covid protocols" attended in person at Temple University's Undergraduate Commons Area, Alter Hall .  While the program aired virtually "in real time," Attendees enjoyed an interactive "Did You Know" session with fun "giveaways."

As travel journalists covering the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry for nearly 30 years, the Herberts shared their observations and insights regarding the growth and development of the African- American and Multicultural market segment. They highlighted the soon to be launched NEW Green Book project, which was inspired by the historic Green Book(s), published 1938-1967, and will add a new dimension for enhancing, enriching and enlightening the travel experiences of travelers to and within the U.S.
