BIG CYPRESS LODGE APPOINTS ROMAINE SCOTT AS HOTEL MANAGER

Hospitality Executive and Veteran Brings Global Experience to Wilderness-Inspired City Hotel in Memphis


Big Cypress Lodge, a wilderness-inspired hotel inside the 32-story Memphis Pyramid, recently announced the appointment of Romaine Scott as Hotel Manager. Scott will oversee operations for the 103-room city hotel, which serves as a one-of-a-kind Bass Pro Shops retail and lifestyle experience from founder Johnny Morris.

With over 20 years of experience in hotel management, Scott has held key managerial and rooms division positions in some of the world's most celebrated destinations including Jamaica, New York City, and Chicago before settling in Memphis. Scott comes to Big Cypress Lodge from The Peabody Memphis, where he served as the Director of Training and Development and Director of Housekeeping and Laundry of the elegant 4-star hotel. Previously, Scott held management positions at esteemed properties including Thompson Chicago and multiple Ritz-Carlton resorts in Rose Hall, Jamaica, Central Park, New York and Tyson's Corner, VA.

Scott is completing his Bachelor of Science in Management from University of Phoenix, along with his Associate degree in Teaching: Mathematics and Science from Church Teachers' College in Mandeville, Jamaica. He has received certifications from Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). A native of Jamaica, Scott brings his diverse experience in multi-state and international hospitality management complemented with a proven track record in profitability and high guest and employee satisfaction to Big Cypress Lodge.

Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, Big Cypress Lodge sprawls across the second and third floors of Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid. Most rooms offer private decks and rocking chairs with interior views of the vibrant ground floor that includes a vast Cypress Swamp with dozens of replica Cypress trees, streams, and live exhibits with thousands of fish and even an alligator pond. The Pyramid also features the country's tallest free-standing elevator, the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center, and dynamic activities among the likes of an archery range, spectacular underwater-themed bowling alley and three restaurants including the first-ever Wahlburgers Wild.
