On Tuesday, September 17, PHL Life Sciences, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) presented the Ultimate Solution Award to esteemed Jefferson University Hospital oncologist Edith Mitchell, MD, FACP, FCPP.  Presented annually, the award recognizes an individual or organization who has raised Philadelphia’s profile as a life sciences meeting and convention destination.

Dr. Mitchell, has spent her medical career helping individuals in chronically underserved areas, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and preventative care. Through her work, Dr. Mitchell has demonstrated the importance of community service and outreach, especially to those individuals who may not have the means to seek out more conventional medical advice.

“I am honored to be recognized with this award and am delighted to serve as an ambassador for Philadelphia as a life science destination,” said Dr. Mitchell.  “As a city known as the birthplace of American medicine, with so many innovative medical contributions, Philadelphia has a rich history and there is much more history to be made.”

Philadelphia consistently ranks as a top city for life sciences, with the industry accounting for more than 50 percent of the bookings at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
