CALIFORNIA HISTORIC ROUTE 66 ASSOCIATION & SANTA MONICA HISTORY MUSEUM PRESENT THE GREEN BOOK

In the not so distant past African-Americans traveling on the roads and highways across the U.S., could literally be putting their lives in danger.

Victor H. Green , an innovative postal worker created a "safety" network making it possible for African-Americans to travel with little likelihood of encountering threats or a racially charged incident. This "network" was a published directory listing places where Black travelers could find lodging, food, gasoline and other needed services.

Gloria & Solomon Herbert , principals of Black Meetings & Tourism, a California based Media company, will explain the relevancy of the GREEN BOOK concept for today's Black travelers.
