BLACK MEETINGS & TOURISM MAGAZINE OFFERS HOSTED BUYER EVENTS

On August 14-16, 2019 Black Meetings & Tourism Media is proud to report another successful Hosted Buyer Event in Ft. Lauderdale Florida.    BM&T vetted and brought together 10 prospective buyers.   Attendees were the event managers of prominent African-American organizations to include the World Conference of Mayors, National Congress of Black Women, and National Dental Association, to name a few.

The group’s overnight accommodations were at B Ocean Resort Fort Lauderdale.    Nestled right up to the Atlantic ocean, this hotel was selected for it’s proximity to the FLL Airport, it’s “beach chic” rooms and one of a kind “Wreck Bar” which they visited on the first night.   Sales Manager Judi Hartstein worked with the group from concept to completion.   A notable moment was when Judi masterfully used the guest manifest to bring out an unprompted birthday cake for one of the buyers who happened to be celebrating his special day.   The illustrious guests sipped coconut water from branded coconuts as they watched the BOcean world famous mermaid show.   With nightly surprises along the way, the BM&T team picked the perfect partner to be the host hotel.

Over the course of three intense days, the guests had the opportunity to visit several event venues including the African American Library and Cultural Center and a guided tour with the staff of the Urban League. One of the crowd favorites was a stopover at Bahia Mar.   Anneessa Reid, Senior Sales Manager, reports that her team had as much fun planning for this esteemed group as they did enjoying the experience.   Uniquely planned tours of the property and the CryStyle Jazz Trio set the stage for an appropriately titled Soulful Brunch.   The cuisine featured cultural favorites such as Fried Chicken & Waffles, Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes and Sautéed Okra to name a few, all eaten on tables adorned with Kente Cloth.   There was a new discovery at each stop on the agenda, which wrapped up with a 5-course elegant seafood meal served family style by the Diplomat.

With over a dozen events in the 3-day period, the hosts, Greater Ft. Lauderdale CVB, represented by Albert Tucker, vice president of Multicultural Business Development, were able to spend hours of quality time with each guest.   Arthur Bronson with the International Federation of Black Bass Anglers bragged that he had the opportunity to spend over 40 minutes one on one with Tucker and is actively pursuing his meeting in Ft. Lauderdale in October 2020.
