Miami Mariott Biscayne Bay Completes Multi-Million Dollar Meeting Space Renovation

A multi-million dollar meeting space renovation has just been completed at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, it was announced recently by David Cesario, general manager.

According to Cesario, the hotel's 20,000 sq. ft. of flexible event space - which includes 23 meeting rooms, a 9,860-sq. ft. Grand Ballroom and a 2,500-sq. ft. Bayview Ballroom with incredible bay views - were all involved in the three-month renovation project.

The renovation encompassed new floor and wall coverings and new lighting in each of the spaces, new furniture, a new state-of-the-art audio/visual system, and new high-speed wireless Internet. In addition, the elevators in the meeting area were refurbished and the escalators were completely replaced. Eco-friendly aspects of the meeting space renovation include LED lighting throughout the meeting space as well as "Smart Sensor" technology on the escalators which slows them down when not in use to conserve energy.

The meeting space renovation at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay ties in with Marriott Hotels' goal to re-imagine traditional meeting spaces to meet a growing demand for more inspiring and creative work environments.  Marriott Hotels is re-thinking everything from boardrooms and breakouts to pre-function spaces, taking a holistic approach to meetings and seamlessly integrating service, technology, and contemporary design.

According to Cesario, "The new generations of travelers and meeting participants work differently than previous generations, and, as such, we need to introduce spaces that promote collaborative work environments."  He adds that even things like foyers have been re-purposed to offer seating for impromptu breakouts and it is not uncommon for meeting attendees to carry over brainstorming and discussions in our Lobby Reinvented, long after the sessions have broken for the day.  Additionally the hotel offers planners options when it comes to room setups with things like couches, pods, and even beanbag chairs an option to create a more casual, relaxed meeting vibe.

The Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, at the intersection of the Miami Arts, Wynwood and Design Districts, and mere minutes from the Miami Beach Convention Center, offers business and leisure travelers a sophisticated Miami experience. Unique in Miami, the property is the only marina-front downtown hotel. It features a sparkling lobby with contemporary work pods, wireless Internet, an Illy Cafe, jaw-dropping views and outdoor dining at Catch Grill & Bar. There are 600 exquisitely appointed guest rooms and suites, as well as an outdoor pool and fitness center.  The hotel is Palm-1 certified (recognized by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for its efforts to conserve and protect the state's natural resources).
