Walnut Creek Downtown (WCD) recently named
Byron Best as executive director of the 550-member business association. Best's responsibilities include implementing and overseeing marketing programs to increase visitors and spending in downtown, identifying new marketing and event opportunities and serving as WCD's chief spokesperson.
A senior level marketer and travel industry veteran, Best moves to the Walnut Creek position from Atlanta based Collinson Media & Events, where he focused on the travel and tourism industry. Previously he served as marketing and communications manager for the Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau. Best's career includes branding and marketing assignments with several national companies including Viacom, Reebok and Nike. A native of Washington D.C., he studied communications at the University of New Hampshire.

Best shares a passion for sports, especially football, with his wife and four daughters.
