Meet Minneapolis Announces Second Quarter Hospitality Hero Award

Carlyle Pierre
, bell captain at the Marquette Hotel Minneapolis, is awarded the second quarter Hospitality Hero award from Meet Minneapolis, Convention and Visitors Association. The award honors an individual or company who has contributed significantly to the public image of Minneapolis through outstanding hospitality and service.

Pierre was nominated by the hotel’s former general manager, Gerard Viardin, who retired in August. Pierre proved himself an excellent candidate for this award through his dedication to his position and over-the-top customer service for each guest. “You wouldn’t believe how many positive comments I received daily from our clients about our doorman, Carlyle,” Viardin explained. “He is a true ambassador for Minneapolis.”

In addition to always smiling and being in high spirits, Pierre is able to perform his job quickly to make sure all guests are in the lobby in a timely fashion as well as provide thorough directions to people who are unfamiliar with the city.

He goes as far as running errands to nearby department stores to purchase shirts and other items for guests who have forgotten their own, as well as taking guest laundry to a dry cleaner located near his home on the weekends. Pierre also stays updated on events within the city so he can make a variety of good suggestions to Minneapolis visitors.

“We received many nominations for the Second Quarter Hospitality Hero Award, and felt that Carlyle really stood out,” said Madonna Carr, vice president of Destination Services, Meet Minneapolis. “Carlyle demonstrates all the characteristics we look for in a Hospitality Hero Award winner.”

Current Marquette Hotel general manager, Todd Temperly, applauds Pierre’s hard work and dedication. “Carlyle is a true professional. He consistently demonstrates a positive attitude towards guests, travelers and his fellow team members.”

Pierre has worked at the Marquette Hotel for more than 10 years and is not only a valued team member, but also an esteemed hospitality professional to all guests, according Viardin. The Marquette Hotel is located at 710 Marquette Ave. in downtown Minneapolis.
