Convention Centre Brings New Investmen In Niagara Falls

Hotel Marriott Gateway On The Falls to Become Signature Hotel

The opening of the new convention centre in Niagara Falls has already spurred a significant investment in a local hotel. The Marriott Gateway on the Falls is about to undergo a major $15-million upgrade to ensure it is best situated to support the new convention business coming to Niagara Falls.

“The recent unveiling of the Marriott Gateway on the Falls is a direct result of the expected boom in convention business in Niagara Falls,” says Anthony Annunziata, vice president of Marketing for the hotel. “It is ideally positioned to be the gateway for what will be a thriving business, conference and convention market throughout the year.”

The opening of the 288,000-sq. ft. Scotiabank Convention Centre promises to boost tourism opportunities in Niagara Falls year-round, and the Marriott Gateway, located right across the street from the convention centre, has the business facilities and guest rooms to ensure conference, convention and business visitors are properly cared for during their stay.

“The Scotiabank Convention Centre will bring a new kind of visitor to Niagara Falls,” Annunziata says. “Delegates to conferences, conventions and trade shows often need space for breakaway meetings and accommodations that offer them quick access to the convention floor. That’s what we offer.” The Marriott Gateway on the Falls is the largest Marriott convention facility in Canada, offering all the amenities and services the business traveler’s needs, including:
  • 40,000 sq. ft. of customizable function space
  • Fully wired and WiFi capabilities
  • 23 separate meeting rooms
  • Columnless ballroom with capacity to seat up to 1,200 guests
  • On-site audio-visual team
  • Spousal program
  • Valet parking
  • Full-service business centre, including photocopying
  • Exhibit tables and staging equipment
  • Capacity for up to 112 exhibitors during trade show events
  • Catering services that range from banquet menus to themed luncheons or dinners
The 32-story hotel also features 407 first-class hotel rooms, including 260 overlooking the majestic Niagara Falls. As the first high-rise hotel built in the exciting Fallsview District, the Marriott Gateway offers quick access to the convention centre while being within a short distance of the amenities that make Niagara Falls famous: the Falls, two casinos, the Niagara Parks, fantastic food and wine and various other attractions. The $15-million renovation will reshape the look of the Marriott Gateway on the Falls to reflect its position as the premier business destination in Niagara Falls.

Pending upgrades include:
  • Remodeled guest suites
  • Façade Improvements
  • New lobby area to create more open space
  • New Restaurant Bar
  • Updated and refreshed conference and meeting space
  • Improvements to the Fitness and Pool Areas
The upgrading of the hotel is already underway, beginning with the installation of the new sign earlier this week. The work is expected to be completed in early 2012. See more at www.marriottgateway.com.
