AAHOA Supports Healthy Living With Donation To The American Heart Association

The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), the voice of owners in the hospitality industry and a supporter of healthy living, donated $5,000 to the American Heart Association (AHA) during the AAHOA North Georgia Regional Conference in Atlanta, Ga.

"It is a pleasure to donate to one of the most esteemed cardiovascular health organizations in the nation," said AAHOA Chairman Pratik Patel. "Healthy living should be the aim and personal goal for everyone and we desire to assist the American Heart Association as they build healthier lives through education and research."

To improve the lives of all Americans, the AHA funds innovative research, fights for stronger public health policies, helps people understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and provides lifesaving tools and information to save and improve lives. AAHOA's donation will assist the AHA to continue their groundbreaking efforts and programs in cardiovascular health. The donation was presented to the AHA during the conference business meeting on August 28.

"The American Heart Association is honored to be the recipient of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association's financial contribution this year. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S., claiming nearly 600,000 lives annually," said AHA Executive Director Michael Privette. "More than 23 percent of those deaths occurred among Asian Americans. AAHOA's support furthers the American Heart Association's mission to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. From lifesaving education campaigns to groundbreaking scientific research, our programs depend on the generous support of donors like the AAHOA."

AHA is the nation's oldest, largest voluntary organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular diseases and strokes. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, the organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters working tirelessly to eliminate these diseases.

Founded in 1989, AAHOA is the largest hotel owners association in the world, with more than 12,500 small business owner-members. AAHOA members own more than 20,000 properties amounting to more than 40 percent of all hotels in the United States and employ nearly 600,000 workers, accounting for over $9.4 billion in payroll annually.
