Sacramento CVB President Goes Bald For Charity
Sacramento CVB President & CEO Steve Hammond
, part of
Team Ault Hammond
, got his head shaved as part of
St. Baldrick's Shaving the Way to Conquer Kids Cancer
fundraiser on March 15, 2010. The team raised $5, 695.
Some 190 volunteers shaved their heads at the Sacramento event raising more than $100,000 for the
St Baldrick’s Foundation
. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation began as a challenge between friends and has grown into the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research. Volunteers shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer and family and friends give generously – worldwide. The St. Baldrick's Foundation uses the donations to fund more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States Government.
