Chicago's Sepia Restaurant Announces New Private Dining Space

Chicago's Michelin star-rated Sepia restaurant, located in the thriving West Loop district, is pleased to announce Private Dining by Sepia, the restaurant's new private event venue. Located next door to Sepia, at 135 N. Jefferson Street, the space was previously home to fashion designer Maria Pinto's eponymous boutique. Private Dining by Sepia opened in late spring.

Adjacent to Sepia, the new private event space is designed to adapt to any occasion, with the flexibility to divide and section off the room to create a more intimate setting. The venue can host 80 guests for a seated dinner, and up to 180 for a standing cocktail reception, and is available for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Menu Offerings
Sepia's private dining menu offerings will reflect Executive Chef Andrew Zimmerman's commitment to bold, inventive dishes that take inspiration from seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and producers. A sampling of private dining offerings includes:
  • Slow-Cooked Halibut, shell bean scafatta, pistou broth
  • Grilled Flat Iron Stea, miatake mushrooms, roasted spring onions, bone marrow flan, bordelaise
  • Gunthorp Farms Chicken, beluga lentils, picada of Marcona almonds, Manzanilla olives and rum-soaked golden raisins
  • Seared Scallops, English peas, pickled ramps, pea tendrils, mint
  • Soft-Cooked Duck Egg, ragout of asparagus, morels and confit potatoes, roasted duck jus
  • Grilled Gunthorp Farms Pork Porterhouse, collard greens, ham hock, buttermilk mashed potatoes, whole grain mustard jus
  • Yukon Gold Potato Gnocchi, braised spring lamb, Meyer lemon gremolata, Grana Padano
Design
Gary Lee Partners, the design team responsible for Sepia's vintage-meets-modern interior, was tasked with translating the restaurant's shadowy backdrop into a stylish, versatile event space. Private Dining by Sepia adapts the restaurant's signature deep, neutral tones and gallery-worthy light fixtures to create a stylish, flexible backdrop that is equally suited for a black-tie wedding reception, a corporate event or a casual dinner.

The space has the ability to transform to fit the needs of any event via linen-draped banquet tables and classic, modern seating. A small lounge area just off the entrance is outfitted with plush, jewel-toned furniture, offering guests a relaxed space to mingle.

The venue's previous incarnation as a designer boutique provided a solid foundation for Sepia to build upon. The original grey bamboo flooring, which stretches partway up the walls in certain areas, has been preserved. The high ceilings and open layout allow for the manipulation of space and scale to meet the needs of any event.

An etched, antiqued metallic wall covering stretches across the north-facing wall, giving the room a dose of sheen and texture. The back wall of the space features a large-scale antiqued mirror made up of smaller mirrored tiles, showcased in a gilded molding frame.
