The
Black Love Lives Conference will be presented at
The University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in an effort to encourage strong families, healthy relationships and healing in the African-American community. The conference will utilize dynamic workshops facilitated by leading experts who will address transformational mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects of sustaining lasting relationships.
The conference was inspired by the award-winning documentary,
Black Love Lives, a short film that explores relationships in the African-American community featuring couples in ages ranging from 20s through 90s. “I received such an overwhelming response from audiences at screenings across the country who yearned for pathways to fulfilling relationships. The conference is an organic extension of the film and my work as a community organizer and alternative health practitioner,” says conference organizer and film producer,
Nisa Ra.
The Black Love Lives conference will include a day of workshops, presentations, film screening, reception, and
Black Love awards presentation honoring 5 couples in the Philadelphia area that exemplify and inspire “Black love”.
The conference partners include:
- The African American Resource Center of the University of Pennsylvania
- The Black Social Workers Association, Penn Student Chapter
- WURD 900AM Radio
- The African-American United Fund
