Meweting Professionals International - Southern California Chapter's 2011 Fundraiser Promises To Be Bigger Than Ever

New Connections, Collaborations, and Commitments to Charity in a Classic Space

The annual Fundraiser for Meeting Professionals International Southern California Chapter (MPISCC) will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 6 pm at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles. The site of the former Cathedral of St. Vibiana, it is one of Los Angeles’ few remaining 19th century landmarks and will provide the perfect backdrop for an event designed to connect the local events community for a collaborative commitment to charity.

MPISCC is proud of its support of charitable foundations, and this year a portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit three groups:
  • Hillsides – a Southern California-based organization whose mission is to create safe places for children, strengthen families, provide special education; and advocate for children’s rights.
  • Rainbow Services – a Los Angeles-based organization whose mission is to end the cycle of family violence.
  • Ronald McDonald House – a global organization that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.
To this end, the event includes a silent auction, though this year auction items will be available online at biddingforgood.org beginning in mid-October. Items include gift baskets, travel, jewelry, artwork, electronics, novelty items, gift certificates for restaurants, theatre and/or musical performances, tickets to sporting events/attractions, and much more. The auction will close the day before the event with last-minute bids accepted solely from the attendees at Vibiana. Exclusive packages will also be available for bid at the event. A portion of proceeds will also assist MPISCC’s educational programs.

Attendees will be treated to exquisite food stations throughout the evening as well as a hosted bar. But the party does not end at Vibiana; the official VIP after-party begins at 10 pm at the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens. A contrast in styles, the cathedral was designated a cultural monument in 1963, while the Kyoto Grand is a full-service hotel that blends Asian-fusion style with contemporary elegance.

A special rate of $89 is available for party-goers if they wish to book a room at the Kyoto Grand. The rate includes self-parking and is available two days pre-/post-event. For reservations, call (888) 354-0831. Early registration is recommended. Vibiana is located at 214 South Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Parking is complimentary for the first 100 attendees. Attendees are encouraged to wear red, black and/or white, as part of the event’s inspired theme. MPI members and their guests pay $40 and non-members and their guests pay $55. Visit www.mpiscc.org to register.
