Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites Completes $15M Renovation

Three-Phase Refurbishment Project Offers Bold, Refreshing Design

and Upscale Amenities Across Lobby, Guest Rooms and Meeting Space

The Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites, located directly across from Pearson International Airport, announced recently the completion of a nearly two-year, $15 million project that modernized one of the airport’s biggest hotels. This top-to-bottom renovation – under the creative direction of renowned interior designer Anna Simone – has dramatically enhanced the hotel’s interior, guest rooms and meeting space with modern furnishings, rich color schemes and cool textures. This is the property’s first significant renovation since 1998.

“We’ve received an overwhelmingly warm and positive reception from our guests,” said Gordon Chow, general manager, Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites. “This renovation touched almost every corner of the hotel – from the lobby to our most luxurious suite – creating a stylish and comfortable respite from the hustle and bustle of Canada’s busiest airport and one of North America’s integral hubs. Our remodeled 23,000 sq. ft. of meeting space also makes us a great destination for groups looking to host their next event. The hotel can accommodate groups as large as 960 people.” The multi-million dollar renovation began in the fall of 2008 and was conducted in three phases:
  • Phase One: Renovation of 268 guest rooms, hotel lobby, guest registration, lobby lounge and Bliss Restaurant & Lounge in 2008
  • Phase Two: Renovation of 151 guest suites in 2009
  • Phase Three: Renovation of 19 meeting rooms, corridors and fitness center (summer 2010)

Toronto-based interior design consulting firm Cecconi Simone executed an ultra-modern hotel concept with practical applications that appeal to both business and leisure guests. The Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites is the first Hilton property to offer the innovative double queen room configuration, which feature back-to-back queen beds, allowing for a sense of privacy and personal space. New furnishings, wall coverings, window treatments and furniture are featured across all of the hotel’s 419 spacious guest rooms and suites. The contemporary theme extends into the hotel lobby, where guests are greeted by a vaulted ceiling, spacious design, and modern furnishings in a soft gray and green earth tone palette. Travelers can relax on the signature wraparound sofa in brilliant red, which accentuates the property’s chic, updated new look. More than 23,000 sq. ft. of meeting space has also been refurbished with new wall coverings, lighting fixtures and furnishings.

“This elevates the guest experience to a whole new level,” said Lynda Gilroy, director of sales and marketing, Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites. “With an estimated 31 million people passing through Pearson International Airport, our newly renovated hotel is now in an even better position to compete for leisure and business travelers. We also offer a world-class meetings experience.” Warm wood tones, sheer linen fabrics and semi-private booths complement the progressive comfort fare at the award-winning Bliss Restaurant & Lounge. Interior designer Anna Simone used earthy tones to create a warm and inviting oasis with a modern flair as sophisticated as the contemporary cuisine. Under the direction of Executive Chef Jerry Nanda, the restaurant incorporates sustainable Ontario-grown produce and local Angus meats to create simple dishes that appeal to the most discerning palates. Bliss Restaurant – awarded one of “Canada’s Top Ten New Restaurants for 2008” by Where magazine – seats up to 100 people for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
