ATA Partners With The 13th Annual HBCU National Tennis Championships

The American Tennis Association in partnership with the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau was one of the sponsors of the 13th Annual HBCU National Tennis Championships held September 19-21 in Atlanta, GA.

With more than 20 Historically Black Colleges & Universities represented, the competition was fierce as the teams competed for the coveted title of Champion.  Bethune Cookman University's Women's Team was successful in defending their title for two years (2012 and 2013).  Xavier University was the winner of the Men's Division.

ATA Executive Secretary Sallie Elam and Mr. Albert Tucker had an opportunity to address the Coaches and update them on the mission and goals of the ATA.

"This was a wonderful event and we look forward to supporting it in the future as well as working with our member clubs to ensure that their youth are aware of HBCU's with tennis programs," Elam said.

The ATA is providing the winners of the Men's and Women's "A" Flight entry into the 2014 ATA National Championships.  Congratulations to Kyle Montrel of Xavier University and Mina Matsuba of Bethune Cookman University on your win. Elam and Tucker look forward to their participation in the 97th ATA National Championships.
