Sarawak Goes Ape At Imex Frankfurt 2014

Having concluded a successful stint at IMEX Frankfurt, three lucky visitors are now proud guardians to three orangutans through the "Orangutan Lucky Draw" sponsored by Sarawak Convention Bureau.

Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) recently took part in IMEX Frankfurt; an award-winning annual trade show for the global meetings, incentive travel and events industry that took place from the 20 th till 22 nd May 2014 at Messe Frankfurt. SCB participated as one of 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries who met and pitched business event ideas with around 9,000 buyers and visitors from all over the world.

Built on a core trade show format, IMEX in Frankfurt offered great networking opportunities and free professional education thanks to multiple partnerships with leading global and European industry associations and other suppliers. Exhibiting under the Malaysia banner with partners, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) among others, the 2014 show was a great success.

Managing director, Mike Cannon commented, "IMEX allowed the Bureau to discover more business opportunities in not only Germany, but the European market. With the many education and business networking programs throughout IMEX, it gave SCB the opportunity to further showcase Sarawak's destination highlights and services for business events."

Throughout the 3-day event, SCB held an "Orangutan Lucky Draw" for visitors to its booth. Lucky winners received a 1-year Orangutan Adoption Package sponsored by SCB, along with a certificate, updates and news of their adopted orang-utan. The winners are:

Winner 1 (20 th May 2014)            :

Wolfgang Taigner, Naturisches Museum Wien

Winner 2 (21st May 2014)            :

Thomas S. Fergus III, Commonwealth Trading Partners

Winner 3 (22nd May 2014): Concha Luque, Eco Wildlife Travel

Targeting association meetings and conferences by norm, SCB also promoted "Borneo Quest - Be Part of the Tribe, " a uniquely crafted corporate incentive program, to potential buyers from a broader market that appreciates adventure in a rich natural setting; such as the million year old rainforests of Borneo.

Director of Sales, Geoffrey Lee commented, "Borneo Quest is a fun and unique program that allows visitors to experience Sarawak from a culture and heritage viewpoint. It weaves in business elements alongside adventure that is sure to leave a lasting impression - and a desire for you to return again to Sarawak for more events."

SCB has also recently joined the Union of International Associations (UIA) as a Standard Associate Member. In line with that, SCB made a courtesy visit to UIA prior to IMEX Frankfurt.

Director of Research, Dylan Redas Noel commented, "We are thrilled to be members of UIA and look forward to a fruitful partnership. UIA has an extensive database pertaining to associations and this will help us in sourcing for leads activities from a different angle. Not to mention their existing network will certainly complement the already excellent ICCA database which have been using since the start of the Bureau in 2006."

In addition, SCB, together with co-IMEX exhibitors, BCCK extended sales and marketing activities in Paris, Brussels and Frankfurt prior to attending IMEX. For more information on SCB and to download our latest marketing tools, do visit www.sarawakcb.com or contact info@sarawakcb.com.
