Louisville CVB Receives Industry Accreditation

Seal Demonstrates Mastery Of Key Principles Of Destination Management & Marketing

The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau has once again been awarded with the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal by Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) in recognition of its commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination marketing organizations (DMO) around the world.

Since its inception in January 2007, the accreditation program requires a DMO to successfully comply with a multitude of mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas to achieve the recognition.  The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of DMO's including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research.

"We are proud to be recognized in the industry for providing outstanding services in accordance with the international standards and benchmarks set out by DMAI," said Karen Williams, president & CEO of the Louisville CVB.  "This accreditation gives us leverage when communicating to potential conventions, tour groups and visitors.  It tells them that we continue to attain a significant measure of excellence in our field."

The Louisville CVB is one of over 200 DMO's who have attained DMAP recognition that demonstrate compliance across 16 disciplines, composed of 53 mandatory standards and is globally recognized by the destination marketing industry as the highest achievement in destination excellence.  The Louisville CVB was one of only six DMOs to receive the accreditation when the program began.

The accreditation credential is valid for four years, with the option to renew in 2019.

DMAI protects and advances the success of destination marketing worldwide.  As the world's largest and most reliable resource for DMO's, it provides more than 3,700 individual members - professionals, industry partners, educators and students - the most innovative and relevant educational resources, networking opportunities and marketing intelligence worldwide.  For more information, visit www.destinationmarketing.org.
