CTO's Sylma Brown Receives Heritage Award
The Caribbean Tourism Organization’s director of Marketing for the Americas, Sylma Brown. was among five "distinguished Caribbean American icons" to be presented with the Caribbean Heritage Night NY Mets Spirit Award. The award was presented at Citi Field Stadium on Wednesday, 8 August, during the 2nd annual Caribbean Heritage Night organized by the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) in partnership with the New York Mets baseball team.

According to Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr., CACCI president and founder: "This is a special occasion when members of the Caribbean Diaspora come out in large numbers together with friends, family and other Mets fans to have fun and to cheer the NY Amazing Mets as they exhibit good sportsmanship in the home game against the Marlins."

The night was filled with laughter, business networking, recognition of the achievements of outstanding individuals of Caribbean heritage, entertainment, Caribbean community recognition and demonstration of the dedicated support of over 37,000 Mets fans which will include hundreds of CACCI members and supporters.

Other icons who received the NY Mets Spirit Awards were:
George Hulse, vice president, Health First; Edmund Sadio, president/broker, Century 21 Achievers Realty; William Lake, international financial consultant; and David "Junior" Gayle, owner, Tropical Paradise Ballroom and Restaurant.
