PATRICIA LARKINS HICKS, PH.D

For Patricia Larkins Hicks, Ph.D. and president/founder of The Outcomes Management Group, it is her passion for results that drives her calling!

The Outcomes Management Group (OMG) is an international organizational development consulting firm that provides strategic planning services, conducts training and facilitates evaluations for other organizations. This 13-year-old company was established in 1994, in Wayne, Pennsylvania. At its onset, Dr. Hicks envisioned that the company would be primarily geared towards the healthcare field. While working in healthcare, she noted that their efficiency, effectiveness and ability to get the right results, was being hindered. Despite their limited resources, Dr. Hicks knew that there were still ways to get results. OMG continues to service the healthcare field, and over the past 13 years, has incorporated a variety of other types of clientele as well.

Currently based in Columbus, Ohio, OMG conducts workshops, seminars and motivational speaking engagements for various healthcare organizations, The Columbus Chamber, Columbus Airport Authority, South Central Ohio Minority Business Council (an organization which generates contracts within the larger corporate environment), as well as after school programs in the Columbus area.

Dr. Hicks has over 30 years experience and expertise in organizational development, training, program evaluation and research. She is an author and has presented over 300 presentations to both national and international audiences. However, she still remembers the days when she had zero employees and her marketing strategy consisted solely on picking up the phone and using direct mail to get the word out about who she was and what she did.

One specific element used by Dr. Hicks to grow her business was a technique for effective multitasking and time management, allowing for higher volumes of work to be accomplished. Dr. Hicks created a system where she was able to look at how her time was being spent each day and always allot space for marketing her company. No day would go by without some form of marketing getting out; whether by email blast, newsletter, marketing calls or speaking engagements.

On the horizon, as Dr. Hicks grounds herself for future success with OMG, she finds it necessary to continue the enhancement of her utilization of technology in her business. Dr. Hicks is currently expanding her web broadcasting which is allowing her to reach people any time of the day in any part of the world. It also allows her to gather data while she’s training as she can conduct polls during her broadcast sessions; she also utilizes video blogging and pod casting. Future goals for Dr. Hicks wisely include keeping abreast of technology and incorporating a variety of virtual medical products.

It’s like Dr. Hicks says, “it’s about having a plan, working your plan, evaluating your plan and making changes when you find that something’s not working in your plan. It’s about sticking to it and not giving up; it’s about celebrating your successes. It’s about getting results!”
