MEETING THE NEEDS OF YOUR MEETING
BY DR. DENNIS ROGERS

In the heart of downtown Seattle, Washington stands three Hyatt Hotels.

The Hyatt Convention Alliance has the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt Olive 8 clustered within walking distance. The Hyatt Regency Seattle, newest of the three, is a heartbeat among meeting and tourism space in the Pacific Northwest. New is good, and beautiful is best. To be inside a luxurious room is to have a staycation in the midst of the workweek. The warm staff emanates the spirit of hospitality. The practical functionality of the sound proof meeting rooms in addition to the sheer magnitude of configurable space makes the Hyatt Regency Seattle a meeting planner’s and conference attendee’s obtainable dream.

The artistic behemoth of granite, steel and glass has a soul. Because of the sheer size of the hotel, with 1,260 rooms, makes it the largest in the Pacific Northwest. What makes the Hyatt Regency Seattle special are the people.  From the front desk to the senior staff, even the general manager has an eye toward welcoming the guest and genuinely engaging in “old school” hospitality with a modern twist. Early arrivals are greeted warmly. The professional bellhops are intergenerational and diverse. The vibration of this space is “Welcome to Seattle.”   Warmth emanates from the newly minted employees to the experienced and discreet security staff. Again in terms of size the 103,000 sq. ft. of meeting space makes it perfect for large gatherings and break out space. The soundproof guest rooms, and meeting space allows one to hear their own thoughts while surrounded by natural and procured lighting reminiscent of a movie set.

At the Hyatt Regency open space in each room, and a desk area near the window make the room a comfortable suite from which to view the skyline or Pacific Ocean. Each room is intimate, warm and cozy. A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a million words. There is a youtube video of the Hyatt Regency Seattle at:

As in real estate, so too in hotels and hospitality; location, location, location makes the difference. The footprint of the Hyatt Regency Seattle located at 808 Howell St, Seattle, WA 98101 is two blocks from and within walking distance to Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, theatres, museums, restaurant and retail centers, and the Downtown Washington State Convention Center. The established facility is spacious, renovated and populated with world-class art including works by artist like Romare Bearden and Kendall Buster, Ivan Chernayeff, William Christenberry, and Yuriko Yamaguchi. The aesthetically pleasing experience will be bridged to the forthcoming Convention Center expansion building scheduled for a 2022 ribbon cutting. As a result of Hyatt Regency Seattle’s proximity to the Convention Center, conferences and conventions attendees have the best of both worlds with the coupling of beauty and functionality.

The general manager and senior staff have a few select experiences for the true connoisseur of delicious cuisine and Pacific Northwest select wines. Ask for the “Presidential Treatment” and a small group can be whisked away to a private location within the hotel, for a unique offering. Within the space of cured northwest pacific hardwood and exposed granite, steel and glass environment is a rare Persian rug, Japanese inspired art and a bevy of culinary artist. Each of the four to six courses can be perfectly paired for a meal pleasing to all six senses. With or without the sommelier, slight nuances of deliciousness tap the palette like a Duke Ellington, or Alicia Keyes performance.
