BM&T To Present APEX Awards And Sports Tourism Workshop At Annual International Multicultural & Heritage Tourism Summit & Trade Show

                    

Black Meetings & Tourism will present its2015 BM&T APEX Distinguished Service Awards at the 2nd Annual International Multicultural & Heritage Tourism Summit & Trade Show during the gala awards dinner, Saturday evening, July 18, at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel, in Miami, FL.

                                                                 

Among this year’s recipients are Carol Ann Taylor (Miami CVB), Selma Brown-Bramble (Caribbean Tourism Organization), Stephanie Mays-Boyd (SMG/Pennsylvania Convention Center), Nicki Grossman (Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB), Charles Jeffers (Destination Marketing Association International), Cheryl Richards (Dallas CVB), Hon. Frederick A. Mitchell (Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration), John Oros (Memphis CVB), Enid C. Pinkney (Historic Hampton House Community Trust, Inc.), Matt Thomas (World Connect), Beverly Bentley (Bentley Travel Services), Caletha Powell (Nouveau International Educational Strategies), Commissioner Keon Hardemnon (City of Miami), Robert Countryman (meeting planner), Ione Vargus (Family Reunions Institute), and T. Willard Fair (Urban League of Greater Miami).  Les Brown will serve as keynote speaker for the Apex Awards Gala, while Roy and Juanita Jay will return Master and Mistress of Ceremonies.

Former recipients of this prestigious BM&T Apex Award include Arnold Donald, Roger Dow, Andy Ingraham, Hon. Obediah Hercules Wilchcombe, Rita McClenney, Tony Brown, Eernest Wooden, Jr., Linda Haithcox Taylor, Jim Smither, Julie Coker, Kitty Pope, Beverly Nicholson-Doty, Hugh Riley and Bill Norman, to name a few.

                      

Earlier that same day Black Meetings & Tourism is also presenting a workshop on African-American Sports Tourism that will explore ways destinations and other travel and meeting industry related suppliers and service providers can tap into this lucrative growing market.  The session will be moderated by BM&T’s Associate Publisher/Editor Gloria Herbert .  The panel includes presenters Al Tucker , vice president of Multicultural Tourism for the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB , and Jose Sotolongo , executive director of the Miami-Dade Sports Commission , among other industry experts.
