Meeting The Needs Of Your Meeting - Portland

The "City Of Roses" Has It All, And Is Ready To Host Your Next Meeting!

OVERVIEW

Portland is located 70 miles east of the Pacific Ocean at the northern end of Oregon's most populated region, the Willamette Valley. Downtown Portland straddles the banks of the Willamette River which flows north through the city center, separating the east and west sections of the city before veering northwest to join with the Columbia River less than 10 miles from downtown. The Columbia River serves as the natural boundary between the states of Washington and Oregon and consequently divides the city of Portland from its most populated suburb Vancouver, Washington.

If you want a unique place for a meeting and affordable accommodations to match look no farther, Portland has more than enough venues and accommodations to satisfy the needs of your conference/convention.

MEETING FACILITIES

The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is the largest convention facility in the Pacific Northwest. The facility offers 255,000 sq. ft. of contiguous exhibit space, 50 meeting rooms, two grand ballrooms, full-service catering and an 800-space underground parking garage. Visitors can get to and from the downtown hotel core and Portland International Airport with ease via MAX light rail.

The OCC has been a LEED-certified facility since 2004 and, in 2008, became the first convention center in the nation to achieve recertification at a higher rating.

Featuring breathtaking riverfront views and exciting interactive entertainment, Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI) offers both a unique dining experience and brain-powered fun. This venue is highly unique because it can hold medium to large-scale conferences/conventions as well as provide guests with a fun-filled educational experience at the same time. Fully equipped with 78,890 sq. ft. of meeting space and 11 meeting rooms this venue is sure to service the needs of your meeting and its attendees.

The Crowne Plaza Downtown/Convention Center is Portland's new place to meet. Loaded with 9,000 sq ft. of meeting space and 240 guest rooms, this upscale hotel is an ideal option for small-to medium-sized business meetings.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Portland offers a wide array of hotels and lodging in the downtown and convention center area for conference attendees' convenience. Many of these hotels are designed to hold large events right there on the grounds. For this reason Portland serves as one of the most conference friendly cities when it comes to hotel service. In addition to the Crowne Plaza Downtown/Convention Center, some properties to consider are Hilton Portland & Executive Tower, Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront, Holiday Inn Portland Airport and the Hilton Vancouver Washington, among others.

THINGS TO DO

There are plenty of exciting and educational activities conference attendees can participate in after a long day of business related activity. For instance, enjoy a distinctive experience at Portland Saturday Market, the nation's largest weekly open-air arts and crafts market. Stroll down row upon row of unique creations made by the people who sell them, and enjoy live music and international snacks.

At the Oregon Zoo, you can travel the globe in an afternoon, observing more than 2,000 animals from around the world, from agouti (a rainforest rodent) to zebra. This conservation zoo is renowned for its Asian elephant breeding program.

Find out why the oldest museum in the Northwest, the Portland Art Museum, is internationally renowned for exciting art experiences. Located in the heart of downtown's cultural district, the museum's campus includes an outdoor sculpture court and historical interiors.
