Black Culinary Expo Set To Kick Off In May

The Black Culinary Expo, sponsored by BLACK STREET, gets under way in New York City (May 31-June 1), then moves on to Miami (June 28-29), Atlanta (July 19-20) and Chicago (November 22-23), before winding up in the D.C./Maryland area (December 20-21).  An estimated 1500+ attendees are anticipated in each city, making this event one of the most recognized industry happenings within the culinary community in 2014!  Participating vendors will have the opportunity to sell their products/services, and most of all be part an event highlighting the culinary community's greatness, report Expo planners. Vendors will have two days to showcase their companies and brand for a very low price, they promise.  Cuisines that will be featured are Southern, Caribbean, African, Cajun, Creole, Latin and American, among others.

The Expo will include Beverage Tastings, Food & Pastry Tastings, Chef Competitions, Panel Discussions, Demonstrations, Showcases (Event Décor, Food & Ice Sculptures, etc.), Scholarship Giveaways, Children's Entertainment, Job Placement Opportunities and Culinary Arts Program Recruiting.

This unique event was created specifically to introduce to the Black community the momentous efforts of individuals, businesses, and organizations that are daily excelling within the culinary industry. Organizers believe the community is not well informed or aware of the many facets of this industry and the numerous opportunities it provides, nor do they understand the depth of African-American involvement in the culinary field. The Black Culinary Expo was created to not only showcase these individuals, businesses, and organizations but also provide an outlet where they can directly cater to their targeted market, allowing exposure, promotions and a growth in business and awareness. Most importantly, BLACK STREET wants to inspire future Caterers, Chefs, & culinary Entrepreneurs.

BLACK STREET will award three deserving students with a scholarship for the passion and drive for a culinary career that successfully submitted all materials in response to the scholarship contest. Winners will be chosen and announced by selected judges prior to the expo. The organization hopes to provide promising opportunities to future students, current chefs, and the creation of beneficial business relationships. Lastly, BLACK STREET will honor individuals who represent the essence of greatness within their businesses, the culinary industry, and most importantly - the Black Community. The expo will be an event to remember as BLACK STREET continues to showcase GREATNESS!
