Think you know which local restaurant has the best salsa? Then tell the Las Cruces Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). Voting at explorelascruces.com/salsa is now open to determine which local restaurant has the best salsa.

Voting began November 1 and ends December 31, 2013. You can pick up a map featuring all the nominated restaurants at the CVB, 211 N. Water Street, area hotels or at participating restaurants. You can also download the map from the CVB's website.

The nominated restaurants are: Andele Restaurante, Carrillo's Café, Cha Chi's Restaurant, Chilito's Restaurant, Delicias Café, Dick's Café, El Sombrero Patio Café, Emilia's on the Plaza, Enrique's Mexican Food, Garduños of Mexico Restaurant & Cantina (inside Hotel Encanto), Good Luck Café, Habanero's Fresh Mex, La Posta de Mesilla, La Nueva, Casita Café, Las Trancas, Los Compas Mexican Restaurant, Los Mariachis, My Brother's Place, Nellie's Café, Nopalito's Restaurant, Old Town Restaurant, Roberto's Mexican Food, Sabor (inside the Ramada Hotel). Saenz Gorditas, Si Señor Restaurant and Spanish Kitchen.

"This promotion is an extension of our very popular Ticket to Taste promotion that we did this spring," said CVB executive director, Phil San Filippo.  "What we are trying to do is draw as much attention to all the great culinary experiences visitors can have when they come to Las Cruces.  This program gives visitors and local alike one more way of discovering new places and rediscovering some of their favorites."

The restaurant with the most votes will receive a free ½ page ad in the Las Cruces Sun News, Las Cruces Bulletin and in the 2014 Las Cruces Visitors Guide.

The winner will be announced with the kickoff of the 2014 Ticket to Taste program in mid-January 2014.

Nominations were conducted through the CVB Facebook page in early fall.  A total of 26 restaurants were nominated.
